As part of Yalova University's goal of improving educational quality, representatives from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences' Education and Training Quality Unit organized a workshop on student-centered education.
Organized by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Güler Güneş Arslan, Faculty Education and Training Coordinator and Faculty Member of the Department of Social Work, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Simel Parlak Erçelik, Psychology Department Education and Training Coordinator, Dr. Yasin Özdemir, History Department Education and Training Coordinator, and Instructor Ceyda Ünver Tetik, New Media and Communication Department Education and Training Coordinator, the first part of the event featured a group discussion where academics shared their student and teaching experiences. The second part featured a presentation on the fundamental principles of student-centered education.
In line with these principles, the importance of supporting students in active participation, critical thinking, problem-solving, and taking responsibility for their own learning was emphasized.
