Journalist Bülent Güler met with students from the New Media and Communication Department

Bülent Güler, Secretary General of the Marmara Journalists Federation, had an enjoyable discussion with students from the New Media and Communication Department of Yalova University on journalism and news reporting. The event, held on December 1, 2025, at Yalova University's campus, was met with great interest from students in the New Media and Communication Bachelor's program.

Güler, who was a guest in the "Basic Concepts of Journalism" course taught by Prof. Dr. Mehmet Gökhan Genel, a faculty member and head of the Department of Human and Social Sciences New Media and Communication, shared her experiences in the journalism profession with the students. Güler, who shared how she started her journalism career, provided information about the Journalists Confederation and the press law being prepared.

The journalist's impartiality and digital journalism

Güler emphasised the importance of ethical principles and the impartiality of the reporter, stating that accurate reporting and serving the public interest are fundamental principles of the profession. At the event, the current importance of digital journalism and the differences between traditional and new-generation journalism were also discussed in detail. Master journalist Güler answered the students' questions, providing important information about the dynamics of the digital media world.
In a statement at the end of the event, Bülent Güler said he was very happy to share his professional knowledge and experience with the students. Through this productive activity, students gained awareness of the journalism profession and news reporting, and acquired important insights into the dynamics of the media world.
